Get up close and personal with the 1:1 magnification ratio of the full-frame compatible Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS Lens. As a G series lens, it perfectly balances sharpness and bokeh, making it an excellent choice for macro photography. Designed to prioritize close and controlled focusing performance, this lens offers advanced autofocus and intuitive handling features.
The true macro design affords a life-size, 1:1 magnification ratio and an 11″ minimum focusing distance, making it ideal for working with close-up subjects. For more technical applications, the focusing distance and magnification scale are printed on top of the lens. The focus range limiter switch allows you to constrain the usable focus range between 11-19.7″, 19.7″-infinity, or the full range. This lens’s focusing ring can be slid forwards and backwards to quickly switch between manual and autofocus modes. The internal focusing design maintains the overall lens length during use, benefitting focus accuracy and ease of use when the working distance is a concern.
The optical design of this G series lens includes two extra-low dispersion elements, one of which is a Super ED element, to reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing, resulting in improved clarity and color neutrality. An aspherical element is also included to help reduce astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other monochromatic aberrations. The Nano AR Coating has been applied to reduce surface reflections, flare, and ghosting, enhancing contrast and color rendering in strong lighting conditions. The rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to pleasing bokeh quality when employing selective focus techniques.
For autofocus and image stabilization, the Direct Drive SSM system, combined with the internal focusing design, ensures responsive and precise autofocus performance that is also quiet, making it suitable for video recording applications. The focus hold button allows you to manually stop the autofocus at a specified point, and it can also be customized to control various other assignable functions. Optical SteadyShot image stabilization helps minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper imagery when shooting handheld with slower shutter speeds. This stabilization system can also be combined with select cameras’ sensor-shift type image stabilization for more effective control of camera blur.
